(1) Dimethyl Disulfide (DMDS) used as a solvent, a passivator for a catalyst, a pesticide intermediate and a coking inhibitor

(2) Dimethyl Disulfide (DMDS) reacts with cresol to form 2-methyl-4-hydroxybenzyl sulfide, which is then condensed with O, O-dimethylsulfuryl chloride in an alkaline medium to obtain fenthion.
Fenthion is a highly effective and low-toxic organophosphorus insecticide with excellent control effects on rice aphids, soybean borers and burdock larvae.
